You need some research behind you before you do anything else. Do not walk into a music store blind as a bat and expect to get a good deal. For all you know, you may have a teenage clerk on their first day of work, supposedly selling you that “golden” keyboard. Remember people, you are ultimately responsible for your own decisions and you cannot point the finger at anyone else.
A lot of people get easily overwhelmed with the amount of digital pianos in a store. First of all, you should already have the decision narrowed down to just a select few models before you even set foot in the store. Don’t become distraught with buttons and gadgets. Stick to the basics, does the keyboard do what you want it to or not?
More than likely, you will shop from store to store, and both stores will tell you something different. They will probably even recommend a different brand than the other. So what are you to do? You need to research which brand of piano is the best for your needs. Simply search Google for “piano” “forums” and ask some questions from people who have had real life experiences and have nothing to gain from recommending a certain brand.
You have to get a non-biased opinion. Never ask a salesman what is the best type of piano. Unless you have a good whole-hearted store, the best type of piano to them, will be the one that gives them the most money. It is sad but that is the way the retail world works.
A Yamaha digital piano is a great piano to purchase simply because of the quality and workmanship put into them. They are so popular because they were extremely successful in their advertising and also in their quality. They spent a lot of time trying to get their digital pianos to sound like the grand pianos and they came darn close.
