Benefits of Learn and Master Piano

The course as a whole, comes jam-packed with 14 feature length DVDs. I find the price of the product to be justified for this alone. What other program do you know of that gives you 14 DVDs to learn from? Keep in mind, that Learn and Master Piano by Will Barrow, is brought to you from the same folks who gave us Learn and Master Guitar. Have any of you purchased that course? It is purely exceptional and I can attest to that fact. Here are some pictures.

Learn and Master Piano DVD Set

What do the DVDs contain? The DVDs are primarily held with video files, screenshots, and over 115 high quality music tracks that you can jam along too. The guideline for the course is easily followed and even someone with zero experience could be taken from knowing nothing, to playing rather well. For this reason, I find the course to be extremely well put together and it deserves an A+. Here are some more features on the course.

  • The main chunk of the course is contained within the DVDs themselves. The instruction booklet is very useful though as you can follow along in the book, while you practice with the DVDs. Each lesson has a workshop and teaching section. Will Barrow, who is a world famous pianist, litterally takes you by the hand through the entire journey. On top of that, you will also become familiarized with the ideas and concepts behind the music of the piano.
  • The 'training' section, or workshop section, is basically a point at which you can practice what you just learned. Remember, practice makes perfect and Learn and Master Piano gives you plenty of practice. I find this aspect of the course pretty useful because it gives you the chance to repeatedly learn what you were just taught. If you were to take lessons with a piano instructor in person, you would have your 30 minute lesson and then go home, tired from the ordeal. You normally wouldn't want to go home and practice right away. With the DVD series though, it changes your outlook on practice, and you can't wait to read that piano sheet music. Practicing actually becomes enjoyable.
  • The piano lessons are of the utmost in quality. The video is stunning and it seems as if you are right there in the studio. The use of the camera is exceptional as it shows Will Barrow playing chords, scales, and much more. If you are new to the piano, you will like the fact that you actually get to start playing right away. Even though you learn the concepts and ideas of piano, otherwise known as theory, you still get to play as quickly as possible.
  • Good piano lesson software is hard to come by but I do not think you will be dissappointed with this instructional set. Piano keys on the screen are highlighted for you in real time, so you do not miss a beat. I'm surprised they don't charge more for the course. It would seem that it would have been very expensive to produce such a high quality product.
  • As mentioned earlier, the course comes with both audio and visual aids which help to improve your ability. The workbook is a bonus and will help you to continue learning when you do not feel like watching the DVD. Even if you have some experience with the piano, this course would be highly suited to your needs.

DVD ScreenShot

If nothing else, you will really enjoy the play along music tracks. What is fascinating about them, is the ability for you to play the tracks with the piano volume slightly turned on, fully turned on, or completely off. This puts you in the 'hot seat' and really gets you excited as you play along with the master himself, Will Barrow. If you are new to the piano, I suggest you play the beginner tracks. They will give you the option of choosing the speed to play them at.

The instruction book is made of quality material and does not feel cheap by any means. As I previously mentioned, it is a great addition to the piano lessons on DVD. Filled with information, the book leaves no stone unturned. Theory, chord, scales, songs, playing rhythm, style, and much more are all there for your reading pleasure. Music notation is also important and after my review, nothing has been left out.

There is no online component to this course, except for the members area. This part of their website gives you a discussion board in which you can communicate with other people who have purchased the course. You can all share your experiences, ask for help, and even chat with technical support if you so need to. Overall, I find this course to be excellent.
